Last updated: November 2, 2026 · On November 2, 2026 we checked the FAQs page, the TJX Rewards credit card page and the Digital Rewards Certificates FAQ on tjmaxx.tjx.com, plus the About TJX page on tjx.com. TJ Maxx can change its policies at any time, so confirm the live terms at checkout or with a store associate before you shop.
- No: as of November 2, 2026, TJ Maxx does not publish any military or veteran discount. The words “military” and “veteran” don’t appear anywhere on its official FAQs page, and we found no military discount page on tjmaxx.tjx.com or tjx.com.
- What TJX does publish for the military: a careers page about hiring veterans, Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses. It’s about jobs, not a shopping discount.
- Best official way to save: the TJX Rewards credit card advertises 5% back in Rewards at TJX stores (5 Points per $1, with a $10 Rewards Certificate every 1,000 Points) and 10% off your first purchase with the card. Both are subject to credit approval.
- Online shipping: standard shipping is free on orders of $89+ before tax, but only if you enter the code “ship89” in your bag or at checkout.
- Veterans Day 2026: as of November 2, 2026, we did not find any Veterans Day promotion announced on tjmaxx.tjx.com.
TJ Maxx comes up a lot when military families make their list of stores to check before Veterans Day. Unlike Kohl’s, Target or Old Navy, though, TJ Maxx doesn’t run a military discount program, at least not one it publishes. Its pricing model is the reason it usually gives: the company says it already sells brand-name goods below department-store prices every day, so it relies on that rather than ID-based discounts.
Below we cover exactly what tjmaxx.tjx.com and tjx.com say (and don’t say) about a military discount, followed by the official ways to save: the TJX Rewards card, the free-shipping code, clearance, returns and the 2026 holiday return window.

Based on tjmaxx.tjx.com and tjx.com pages checked November 2, 2026. “Not found” means TJ Maxx doesn’t publish it. It doesn’t rule out an occasional promotion at a single store.
Does TJ Maxx have a military discount?
No, not one it publishes. The official TJ Maxx FAQs page covers orders, Rewards, gift cards, merchandise credits, returns, shipping and stores, and none of those sections mentions a military, veteran, senior or student discount. We also found no dedicated military discount page on tjmaxx.tjx.com or on the corporate site, tjx.com.
The only official military content we found is on the TJX careers site. Its page “TJX Supports Veterans and Military Families” is about employment. It describes hiring military veterans, active Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses. It doesn’t offer a customer discount, so don’t treat it as evidence of one.
Instead, TJX describes its value as everyday off-price pricing. According to the About TJX page, the company sells “a rapidly changing assortment” of brand-name and designer merchandise at prices “generally 20% to 60% below full-price retailers’ regular prices on comparable merchandise.”
Who qualifies for a discount at TJ Maxx?
- Active duty, veterans, spouses and dependents: no published discount for any of these groups.
- TJX Rewards cardmembers: the only published group that earns ongoing rewards. Approval comes from Synchrony Bank, which issues the card.
- Online shoppers spending $89+: anyone qualifies for free standard shipping with the “ship89” code. No ID is needed.
How to save at TJ Maxx without a military discount (step by step)
- Don’t count on a military ID discount at the register. TJ Maxx doesn’t publish one, so plan your budget on the shelf price.
- Shop clearance first. tjmaxx.tjx.com has Clearance and “Almost Gone” sections. Price adjustments aren’t offered on clearance items you’ve already bought, so buying at the lowest marked price is what counts.
- Online, get to $89 and type “ship89”. According to the FAQs, free standard shipping isn’t applied automatically. You have to enter the code in the apply code field in your bag or at checkout. If you forget, TJ Maxx says to call customer service at 1-833-888-0776.
- If you already have a TJX Rewards card, link it. Linking your card to your tjmaxx.com account puts your Digital Rewards Certificates at checkout and in the TJ Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods apps within 48 hours of earning them.
- Check the receipt and the return window. In-store purchases can be returned within 30 days for a refund. Online orders get 40 days from the order date.
What’s excluded or limited at TJ Maxx?
- No price adjustments: the FAQs say TJ Maxx doesn’t “offer price adjustments for marked down or clearance merchandise that was previously purchased.”
- Free shipping covers standard shipping only. Express, expedited and return shipping follow the normal rules and charges.
- No store pickup: the FAQs say TJ Maxx currently doesn’t offer ship to store or store pickup.
- Returns stay within the brand: items bought at a TJ Maxx store, or on tjmaxx.com, can only be returned to a TJ Maxx store.
- The card’s 10% off excludes gift cards. If you’re approved on a mobile device, or you prequalify before applying, the 10% coupon works in store only.
Can you combine TJ Maxx savings?
TJ Maxx doesn’t run a traditional coupon program for its main ways to save, but some of them can stack in practice. You can buy clearance merchandise, enter “ship89” on an online order of $89 or more, and pay with a linked TJX Rewards card to earn 5% back. According to the Digital Rewards Certificates FAQ, you can redeem up to 10 Rewards Certificates or gift cards on one online order. Note that items paid for partly or entirely with a gift card or Rewards Certificate are refunded as merchandise credit, not cash.
TJ Maxx, Veterans Day 2026 and the holiday return window
As of November 2, 2026, we didn’t find any Veterans Day sale or military promotion announced on tjmaxx.tjx.com. What TJ Maxx has published for the season is an extended holiday return policy, which helps if you’re shopping early for gifts:
- In-store purchases: items bought between 10/4/2026 and 12/24/2026 can be returned through 1/25/2027.
- Online purchases: items bought between 10/4/2026 and 12/24/2026 can be returned through 2/4/2027.
- Gift returns with a receipt: you get store credit. The normal policy applies again to purchases made from 12/26/2026.
If you’re shopping for a service member stationed overseas, TJ Maxx says standard delivery times don’t apply to APO/FPO shipments, which can take up to 5 additional business days.
Other real ways to save at TJ Maxx
- TJX Rewards credit card: no annual fee (see the card’s rates and fees). You earn 5% back in Rewards Points, or 5 Points per $1, at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra and Homesense, and every 1,000 Points becomes a $10 Rewards Certificate. The card also advertises exclusive shopping events. It’s a credit product, so if you carry a balance, interest can cost more than you earn in rewards.
- TJX Rewards Platinum Mastercard: adds 2% back on gas, grocery store and restaurant purchases, plus 1% everywhere else Mastercard is accepted.
- 10% off your first card purchase: requires credit approval, excludes gift cards, and only applies when you pay with the TJX Rewards card.
- Clearance and “Almost Gone”: both are permanent sections on tjmaxx.tjx.com.
- Free standard shipping at $89: spend $89 before tax and shipping, then enter “ship89”. Below $89, standard shipping is $8.99, according to the FAQs.
- Free returns in store: you can return online purchases to a TJ Maxx store for free within 40 days of the order date, which saves the cost of mailing them back.
Tips before you shop
- Ask politely, but expect a no. No military discount is published, so a store associate isn’t expected to apply one.
- Buy when you see it. TJX describes its assortment as rapidly changing, so a good find may not be there next week.
- Keep the plastic packaging from online orders. TJ Maxx asks you to bring it, along with your shipping confirmation email, when you return an online order in store.
- Bring a photo ID for returns without a receipt. They require a government-issued photo ID, name, address and signature, and you get merchandise credit only.
- Compare stores with real military programs. If a military discount matters most, the stores listed under Related deals publish their own programs.
