Does Hobby Lobby Offer a Military Discount? (2026): No, Here’s How to Save Instead

Last updated: November 2, 2026 · On November 2, 2026 we checked the Customer Service FAQ (including the Sales, Product Pricing & Discounts and Gift Cards sections), the Weekly Ad, the Clearance and Everyday Deals pages on hobbylobby.com, plus the Hobby Lobby Newsroom. Hobby Lobby can change prices, promotions and exclusions at any time, so confirm the live terms at checkout or with a team member before you shop.

Hobby Lobby is one of the biggest arts, crafts and home decor chains in the US, so it is a natural place for service members, veterans and military spouses to ask about a discount at the register. Many competitors run military programs, which makes the question come up a lot, especially in November.

Below we cover exactly what hobbylobby.com says, and does not say, about military discounts, the old 40% off coupon, price matching, rain checks and gift cards. We also list the official ways to pay less at Hobby Lobby this week.

Hobby Lobby military discount at a glance (November 2026)

Based on hobbylobby.com and newsroom.hobbylobby.com pages checked November 2, 2026. A local store manager could run something we cannot see online; ask in store if you want to be sure.

Does Hobby Lobby have a military discount?

Based on everything Hobby Lobby publishes online, no. The customer service FAQ has a dedicated “Sales, Product Pricing, & Discounts” category with five questions: “When is an item going to be on sale?”, “Do you honor competitors’ ads?”, “Do you offer bulk discounts?”, “Do you offer rain checks on sale items?” and “Are prices the same online as they are in store and vice versa?” None of them mention a military, veteran, senior or teacher discount.

The only time “military” comes up in the FAQ is a shipping question about “Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories & Military Addresses.” That question is about where orders can be shipped, not about pricing. (The page itself did not load for us, so we cannot quote its APO/FPO details.)

Hobby Lobby does talk about veterans in its Newsroom. A November 6, 2017 article titled “Honoring Veterans” quotes founder and CEO David Green: “We are a stronger company because of the discipline, commitment and skills veterans bring to their job.” That article is about veterans who work for the company. It does not describe a customer discount.

What we can confirm: hobbylobby.com does not publish a military discount. What we cannot confirm: whether an individual store ever offers one on its own. We found no official sign that it does, so plan your budget as if there is no military discount.

Who qualifies for Hobby Lobby savings?

Because there is no military program, there is no military eligibility list, ID check or verification service. The savings Hobby Lobby does publish are open to everyone:

• Active duty, veterans, reservists and military families: same prices as every other shopper. No special discount is published.
• Every shopper: Weekly Ad prices, clearance, competitor ad matching (in store) and rain checks (in store).
• Tax-exempt organizations and public schools: the FAQ has separate questions on tax-exempt purchases and public school purchase orders. These cover tax and payment, not a percentage off.

How to get the lowest price at Hobby Lobby (step by step)

1. Check the Weekly Ad first. The ad on hobbylobby.com lists the categories on sale this week. The current ad says “Prices good in stores Mon, Nov 02 – Sat, Nov 07, 2026” and “Prices good online Sun, Nov 01 – Sat Nov 07, 2026.”
2. Sign up for emails. Hobby Lobby’s FAQ answer to “When is an item going to be on sale?” is: “Sign up for our emails to learn to be notified of our sales or check our Weekly Ad page.” If emails don’t arrive, the FAQ says to check spam and allow messages from NoReply@create.hobbylobby.com.
3. Look at clearance. The Clearance page lists “Up to 75% Off Select Clearance,” in categories such as Crafts & Hobbies, Home Decor, Seasonal, Yarn & Needle Art and Party Supplies.
4. Bring a competitor’s ad (in store only). Hobby Lobby says: “We do honor competitors’ ads in-store if a specific price is listed and we stock the exact same item.”
5. Ask for a rain check on a sold-out sale item. According to the FAQ, “We issue rain checks when a specific item is on sale in your local store.”
6. Compare online vs. in store. Hobby Lobby says prices and promotions “may be different” between stores and the website, so check both.

What’s excluded from Hobby Lobby sales?

• “Your Price” items: “No coupons or other discounts may be applied to “Your Price” items.”
• Pre-reduced items: “Ad does not apply to pre-reduced items.”
• Category limits: for example, the home decor deal “Does not include Seasonal Department or items labeled Kitchen, Bath, Closet, Gift, Kinkeeping or “Your Price”,” and the Christmas deal “Does not include candy, food, light sets, or Scotch® tape.”
• Competitor matching limits: no “percent off” ads or coupons. Also excluded: holiday door buster ads, Cricut, Silhouette, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Simplicity & McCall’s patterns, clearance and closeout items. And “competitors’ ads are not honored online.”
• Rain check limits: none are issued “when an entire group of merchandise is on sale,” and “Rain checks are not issue or redeemable online.”

What happened to the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon?

For years, shoppers used a weekly 40% off coupon on one regular-price item. In January 2021, news outlets reported that Hobby Lobby was ending it and would honor it only through February 28, 2021. WDBJ7 quoted a company statement: “By making this decision, we are intensifying our efforts to discount thousands of items every day.”

On November 2, 2026, the Weekly Ad page on hobbylobby.com showed no “40% off one item” coupon and no coupon code. Its savings are written as “Always X% Off The Marked Price,” with this footnote: “Discounts provided every day; marked prices reflect general U.S. market value for similar products.” So we cannot confirm a 40% off coupon for 2026. Be careful with third-party sites that still advertise one.

Hobby Lobby on Veterans Day 2026

Veterans Day 2026 falls on Wednesday, November 11. As of November 2, 2026, we did not find any Veterans Day sale, military thank-you offer or special hours on hobbylobby.com. The FAQ says to “Use our Store Finder to view holiday hours for your local store.” Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sundays (“We have chosen to close on the day most widely recognized as a day of rest”), but November 11 is a Wednesday.

If you want a real military discount on craft supplies around Veterans Day, look at our Michaels military discount guide, then compare it with Hobby Lobby’s Weekly Ad prices for the same week.

Other real ways to save at Hobby Lobby

• Weekly Ad “always” deals: the current ad includes Home Decor “Always 40% Off The Marked Price,” Mirrors & Lamps “Always 50% Off The Marked Price” (not “Your Price” items) and Furniture “Always 30% Off The Marked Price.”
• Seasonal sales: the current ad lists 50% off listed Christmas categories and 25% off light sets.
• Custom frames: the ad lists Custom Frames at 50% off, “Applies to frame only. See store for details.”
• Clearance: up to 75% off select items while supplies last. The page warns that clearance “has limited stock.”
• Everyday Best Prices: hobbylobby.com has an “Everyday Deals” section with “everyday low prices on a wide selection of products.”
• Free shipping threshold: a site banner on hobbylobby.com read “Free Shipping On Orders $59 Or More!” when we checked.
• Gift cards: they are not discounted, but they make a good gift for a crafter who served. The FAQ says, “Gift Cards have no expiration date,” though some states can treat idle funds as unclaimed property. Hobby Lobby only offers physical cards: “Sorry, we only offer physical gift cards.”

Tips before you shop

• Time your trip to the ad cycle. In-store prices run Monday through Saturday, and online prices start the Sunday before.
• Check for the “Your Price” label. Those items take no other discounts, so don’t plan a coupon or sale price around them.
• Bring printed or on-screen competitor ads with a specific price. A “percent off” ad will not be matched.
• Don’t count on bulk pricing. Hobby Lobby says it does not offer bulk discounts. For large quantities, the FAQ has a question on ordering more than your store has in stock.
• Remember the Sunday closure. Plan weekend trips for Saturday.

FAQ

Does Hobby Lobby give a military discount?

No military discount is published on hobbylobby.com as of November 2, 2026. Its FAQ section on sales, pricing and discounts does not mention military or veteran savings, and it states that Hobby Lobby does not offer bulk discounts.

Does Hobby Lobby have a veterans discount on Veterans Day?

We did not find one. Hobby Lobby’s website and Newsroom show no Veterans Day 2026 offer. The Newsroom’s veterans article is about employees, not a customer discount.

Does Hobby Lobby still have the 40% off coupon?

We could not find it on hobbylobby.com. News reports in January 2021 said Hobby Lobby was ending the coupon after February 28, 2021. Today the Weekly Ad uses “Always X% Off The Marked Price” sales instead.

Does Hobby Lobby price match?

Yes, in store only. Hobby Lobby honors competitors’ ads when a specific price is listed and it stocks the exact same item. It does not honor “percent off” ads, coupons, clearance or certain brands, and it does not price match online.

Do Hobby Lobby gift cards expire?

No. Hobby Lobby says its gift cards have no expiration date, although some states may declare idle funds unclaimed property. Only physical gift cards are offered.
