Last updated: November 1, 2026 · On November 1, 2026 we checked the Walmart+ membership and Walmart+ Assist pages on walmart.com, Walmart’s “Does Walmart price match?” answer and veterans program page on corporate.walmart.com, and Walmart’s newsroom articles on veterans and Walmart+ Assist. Walmart can change prices, memberships and promotions at any time, so confirm the live terms on walmart.com or in the Walmart app before you shop.
- No: Walmart does not offer a military or veterans discount in stores or on Walmart.com. None of the official Walmart pages we checked on November 1, 2026 lists one.
- No military price for Walmart+ either: the Walmart+ page lists reduced prices only for Walmart+ Assist (government assistance) and Walmart+ Student, at $49/year or $6.47/month. Military status is not listed.
- Veterans Day 2026: as of November 1, 2026, we did not find any Veterans Day 2026 shopper discount announced on walmart.com or corporate.walmart.com.
- Where Walmart does support the military: hiring (more than 500,000 veterans and military spouses hired since 2013), the Military Family Promise for transferring spouses, and grants to veteran-serving groups.
- Best real ways to save: everyday low prices and Rollbacks, Walmart+ Assist if your household gets SNAP, WIC, Medicaid or similar aid, and in-store price matching to the identical item on Walmart.com.
“Walmart military discount” is one of the most common searches each November, and plenty of veterans assume the country’s largest retailer has a 10% register discount like some home improvement chains. It does not. Walmart’s long-standing pitch is low everyday prices for every shopper, so it does not carve out a separate percentage for service members, veterans or military families.
Below we cover exactly what Walmart officially says (and doesn’t say), what we found for Veterans Day 2026, how Walmart supports veterans through jobs and grants instead, and the verified ways military households can still cut their Walmart bill.

Based on walmart.com and corporate.walmart.com, checked November 1, 2026. Walmart can change or add offers without notice.
Does Walmart have a military discount in stores or online?
No. Walmart does not publish a military, veterans or military family discount for purchases in its stores, at Neighborhood Markets or on Walmart.com. There is no ID to show at the register and no military verification option tied to regular shopping. We also found no official Walmart page describing an ID.me or SheerID military discount for Walmart purchases.
Walmart’s veterans page on corporate.walmart.com focuses entirely on careers, suppliers and philanthropy. It does not mention a customer discount for service members. If a site promises a “Walmart military promo code,” treat it with suspicion: Walmart does not list one.
Is there a Walmart+ military discount?
Not as of November 1, 2026. This is the question we checked most carefully, because competitors such as Target offer a reduced paid membership to verified military members. Walmart’s official Walmart+ page lists only these lower-price options:
- Walmart+ Assist for people who receive qualifying government assistance: $49/year or $6.47/month.
- Walmart+ Student for college students: $49/year or $6.47/month.
- Walmart+ with Sam’s Club: $120 for both memberships.
Military service and veteran status are not on that list. The regular Walmart+ annual fee is $98, and Walmart offers a 30-day trial for $1. Some veterans may still qualify for Walmart+ Assist through a household benefit such as SNAP, WIC or Medicaid, but that is based on the government assistance, not on military service.
Walmart Veterans Day 2026: is there an offer?
As of November 1, 2026, we did not find any Veterans Day 2026 discount, coupon or Walmart+ promotion for military shoppers on walmart.com or in Walmart’s corporate newsroom. We are not going to guess one. Walmart’s recent veteran-related news has been about jobs and community support rather than shopper discounts:
- Hiring: Walmart says it has hired more than 500,000 veterans and military spouses since 2013.
- Career tools: Walmart’s May 2025 newsroom article highlights a Skills Translator at careers.walmart.com/military that matches military experience to Walmart roles.
- Grants and events: more than $10 million granted to veteran-serving organizations since 2022, support for Wreaths Across America since 2008, and $500,000 for events marking the 250th anniversaries of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps.
Seasonal Rollbacks may show up around Veterans Day, but those prices apply to every shopper, not only military families. If Walmart announces a military-specific offer for November 11, 2026, we will update this page.
How Walmart supports veterans and military families instead
Walmart’s military support is aimed at employment. According to its official veterans page:
- Military Family Promise: trailing spouses who move with a service member “can keep their role within the company.”
- Hiring Our Heroes: Walmart runs a career fellowship program and works with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes summits and fellowships.
- Veteran-owned suppliers: Walmart reports $1.1 billion spent with veteran-owned businesses in FY26.
- Recognition: U.S. Veterans Magazine named Walmart a 2026 Top MilSpouse Employer.
For a military spouse facing a PCS move, the Military Family Promise can be worth far more than a 10% shopping discount, since it lets an associate keep working after relocating.
Walmart+ Assist: how it works
Walmart+ Assist is Walmart’s only verified half-price membership tied to household circumstances. Here is how to sign up, based on walmart.com and Walmart’s newsroom:
- Check eligibility. Walmart lists recipients of government assistance “such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid, & more.”
- Go to walmart.com/plus/assist and start the verification. Walmart uses SheerID to confirm eligibility.
- Join at the reduced price of $49/year or $6.47/month. Walmart says there is no credit check and no impact on your existing government benefits.
- Already a member? Walmart’s launch announcement says qualifying members who switch get a prorated refund, and the lower price takes effect immediately.
- Plan to re-verify each year. The Assist page refers to annual re-verification.
Walmart’s own pages do not say whether VA benefits count toward Assist eligibility, so check the SheerID form for the current list of accepted programs before you sign up. Our Walmart+ Assist guide covers the program in more detail.
Real ways for military families to save at Walmart
Without a military discount, these are the verified ways to lower your Walmart bill:
- Rollbacks: Walmart’s Rollbacks section shows items with a current price below the “Was” price and the dollar amount you save. Anyone can use them, in stores and online.
- In-store price matching: Walmart says stores “will match the price of the identical item advertised on Walmart.com.” Restrictions apply, and the store manager on duty makes the final call.
- Know the online limits: Walmart.com does not price match competitors, Marketplace or third-party sellers, or items that drop in price after you buy them online.
- Walmart+ perks if you already pay for delivery: free delivery on orders of $35 or more, free shipping with no order minimum (most Marketplace items excluded), 10 cents off per gallon at participating fuel stations, and up to 10% in Walmart Cash on travel booked through Walmart+ Travel.
- Free 30-day trial for $1: useful for holiday shopping or a move, as long as you cancel before it renews at the regular price.
- Returns: buying something that may not fit your new base housing? Check the Walmart return policy before you order.
Tips for military shoppers
- Do not wait for a register discount. Walmart does not offer one, so compare its everyday price with stores that do have military discounts.
- Compare with retailers that do offer military discounts. Some home improvement and department stores run year-round or Veterans Day military offers (see Related deals below).
- Check Assist eligibility first. If your household receives SNAP, WIC or Medicaid, Walmart+ Assist cuts the membership in half.
- Price-match in store with your phone. If Walmart.com shows a lower price on the identical item, ask at checkout.
- Skip “Walmart military coupon” sites. Walmart does not publish a military code, so any site claiming one is not an official Walmart source.
