Kohl’s is one of the department stores military families shop most, so “kohls military discount” is a common search, especially in the run-up to Veterans Day. The discount is real, but it comes with three conditions people often miss: it only works on Mondays, only in a store, and only on brands and categories Kohl’s marks as coupon-eligible.
This guide covers what Kohl’s officially says about the military discount in October 2026: who qualifies, which IDs work, what is excluded, what we know (and don’t know) about a Veterans Day 2026 offer, and the other official ways to save at Kohl’s with Kohl’s Rewards, Kohl’s Cash and the Kohl’s Card.

Who qualifies for the Kohl’s military discount?
According to Kohl’s Servicemember (Military) Discount FAQ, the 15% Monday discount is open to:
- Active military
- Veterans
- Retirees
- Their immediate family members
Kohl’s doesn’t list individual branches on the FAQ, and it doesn’t define “immediate family” in more detail there. If you’re a family member shopping without the service member, bring an ID that matches one of the accepted proofs below and ask the store how it handles dependents.
Which ID do I need at Kohl’s?
Kohl’s accepts any of these as proof of eligibility:
- Military identification card
- State-issued ID that indicates veteran status (for example, a driver’s license with a veteran designation)
- Form DD 214
Kohl’s newsroom posts about Military Mondays also mention a Military Dependent ID. There’s no online sign-up or ID.me step: you show your ID to the cashier on a Monday.
How to use Military Mondays in store
- Shop on a Monday at a Kohl’s store. The discount isn’t offered on other days.
- Check that your items are coupon-eligible. Kohl’s lists eligible brands at kohls.com/details; examples on the FAQ include Apt. 9, Croft & Barrow, FLX, Jumping Beans, SO and Sonoma Goods For Life.
- At the register, tell the cashier you’d like the military discount and show your accepted ID.
- Hand over any Kohl’s Cash or other dollar-off coupons too. Kohl’s applies dollar-off coupons before percent-off ones.
If you’re scanning your Kohl’s Rewards account (or paying with a Kohl’s Card), you still earn Rewards on the purchase, since Kohl’s calculates Rewards after discounts.
What the Kohl’s military discount doesn’t cover
The exclusions matter as much as the 15%. According to Kohl’s, the military discount does not apply to:

Kohl’s coupon exclusions change over time, so check the list or ask at the register before you load up a cart. Past Kohl’s newsroom posts also named categories like toys, beauty and fragrance and certain electronics as excluded.
Is there a Kohl’s Veterans Day discount in 2026?
Kohl’s has run a bigger Veterans Day offer in past years. Its most recent official announcement, on the Kohl’s corporate newsroom, offered 30% off a qualifying in-store purchase on Monday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 11, 2025, for active-duty military, veterans, retirees and immediate family members with proper ID. Earlier newsroom posts show similar 30% in-store Veterans Day offers in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
As of October 31, 2026, we did not find a 2026 Veterans Day announcement on kohls.com or corporate.kohls.com, and the military discount FAQ doesn’t mention Veterans Day. Some third-party Veterans Day lists already show a Kohl’s 30% offer for November 10-11, 2026, but the source they link to describes the 2025 event, so we’re treating 2026 as unconfirmed.
What you can count on: November 9, 2026 is a Monday, so the regular 15% Military Mondays discount applies that day. If Kohl’s announces a Veterans Day 2026 offer, we’ll update this page.
Other real ways to save at Kohl’s (no code needed)
- Kohl’s Rewards (free): members earn 5% in Rewards on every qualifying purchase, or $5 for every $100 spent. Rewards are calculated after discounts and before shipping, fees and tax, and gift card purchases don’t qualify.
- Kohl’s Cash from Rewards: Rewards convert to Kohl’s Cash in $5 increments on the 1st of the following month, and that Kohl’s Cash is valid for 30 days. Rewards that don’t convert expire after one year. Our Kohl’s Cash guide explains how to use it.
- Kohl’s Cash earn events: during advertised earn periods, Kohl’s says you can get $10 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent. Kohl’s Cash is a dollar-off coupon, so it can be used alongside the Monday military discount.
- Kohl’s Card, 7.5% Rewards: paying with a Kohl’s Card raises your Rewards earn rate to 7.5% on every purchase. Cardholders who spend $600 in a calendar year on the card reach Most Valued Customer (MVC) status, which adds monthly free shipping events.
- New Kohl’s Card offer: on October 31, 2026 the Kohl’s Card page advertised a 40% coupon for one transaction with a new Kohl’s Card, within 30 days of credit availability, one per customer. Because it’s a percent-off coupon, it can’t be combined with the military discount. Check the current terms and APR before applying.
- Free shipping at $49: Kohl’s offers free standard shipping on orders of $49 and up. Below that, standard shipping is $8.95. Free in-store pickup and free ship to store are also available. APO/FPO addresses get standard ground shipping only.
- Stack online coupons the right way: on Kohls.com you can use one sitewide percent-off coupon, up to six dollar-off coupons such as Kohl’s Cash, and a free shipping coupon, within Kohl’s limit of four coupons per order.
Tips to get the most from the Kohl’s military discount
- Plan big trips for Monday. The 15% only works on Mondays in store, so save non-urgent purchases for that day.
- Compare 15% with the week’s best coupon. Since you can only use one percent-off discount, a store coupon of 20% or more beats Military Mondays. Use whichever is bigger.
- Bring your Kohl’s Cash. Kohl’s Cash comes off first, then the 15%, so the two work together.
- Check the brand before you buy. Sephora at Kohl’s, gift cards and many name brands are excluded. A quick look at kohls.com/details saves surprises at the register.
- Scan your Kohl’s Rewards account. You still earn 5% (or 7.5% with a Kohl’s Card) on the discounted amount.
- Shopping online from a base? The military discount won’t apply on Kohls.com, so aim for the $49 free shipping threshold and use Kohl’s Cash and the week’s online coupons instead.
