Does Target Offer a Military Discount? (2026): Veterans Day Offer, Target Circle & How to Verify

Last updated: October 19, 2026 · On October 19, 2026 we checked Target’s Military Appreciation page and military verification help article on target.com, the Target Circle 360, Target Circle Card, current promotions and price match pages, and Target’s corporate fact sheets on its military discount. Target can change or end any offer at any time, so confirm the live terms in the Target app before you shop.

Quick answer
  • Not a year-round percentage off: Target does not run an everyday military discount on every purchase. Its military discount is a seasonal Target Circle offer that Target says runs around Independence Day and in early November for Veterans Day.
  • Veterans Day 2026: as of October 19, 2026, Target has not yet published the 2026 Veterans Day percentage or dates on its official pages.
  • Last official Veterans Day terms we could find (2023): 10% off a storewide purchase, usable twice, October 29 to November 11, 2023, for active-duty military, veterans and their spouses and children. The most recent military offer (July 2026) was 20% off one qualifying purchase through July 4.
  • Year-round perk: verified military members can get Target Circle 360 for $49/year or $4.99/month instead of $99/year or $10.99/month.
  • How to verify: in the Target app or on target.com under Settings, then Military verification. Target uses SheerID to check eligibility.

Searches for a “Target military discount” spike every fall because Target has a history of thanking service members around Veterans Day. The short version: there is no permanent 10% military discount at the register, but Target does run limited-time military offers through its free Target Circle loyalty program, and verified military shoppers get a big year-round discount on the paid Target Circle 360 membership.

Below we cover what Target officially says about each offer, what has (and hasn’t) been announced for Veterans Day 2026, how to get verified before the offer drops, and the other real ways to save at Target this season.

Does Target have a year-round military discount?

Not in the form most people mean. Target does not publish a standing “show your ID, get 10% off” military discount at checkout. Its corporate fact sheet on the military discount says the offer runs at two points in the year: around Independence Day in June and July, and in early November for Veterans Day.

What is year-round is the Target Circle Military Appreciation page on target.com, whose banner says “Military, veterans & family members save all year.” The concrete, always-on saving behind that line is the discounted Target Circle 360 membership (more on that below), plus the regular Target Circle deals every member gets. Once you verify, Target says you can add veteran or dependent status to your guest profile so you are eligible for future military offers automatically.

Target’s Veterans Day military discount: what we know for 2026

As of October 19, 2026, Target has not posted 2026 Veterans Day terms on target.com or corporate.target.com. We are not going to guess the percentage or dates. Here is what the official record shows:

  • Timing pattern: Target’s current military discount fact sheet (updated July 1, 2026) says the discount runs in “early November in honor of Veterans Day.”
  • Most recent Veterans Day terms published by Target (2023): “10% off a storewide purchase, redeemable in-store or online twice between October 29 and November 11, 2023,” for active-duty military and veterans plus their spouses and children. Target added that “some exclusions apply.”
  • Most recent military offer of any kind (2026): for Independence Day 2026, verified military members, veterans and their families who are Target Circle members got 20% off one qualifying storewide purchase through July 4.

Coupon blogs posted 2024 and 2025 Veterans Day details, but we could not find those years’ terms on Target’s own sites today, so we have left them out. When Target announces the 2026 offer, it should appear on the Military Appreciation page and in the Target app’s Deals tab for verified members. We will update this page once Target publishes it.

Who qualifies for the Target military discount?

Target’s help article “How do I verify my military status?” says “Target Circle members who are active or veteran service members, and one dependent are eligible.” In practice that means:

  • Active-duty service members (and members of the Reserve and National Guard, judging by the accepted documents).
  • Veterans and retirees.
  • One dependent, such as a spouse or child, who verifies under their own Target Circle account.

You must also be a Target Circle member, which is free with a Target account.

How to verify your military status with Target (SheerID)

Verifying before November is the best way to be ready the moment the Veterans Day offer goes live. Target’s help center gives these steps:

  1. Create a Target account and join Target Circle (free) in the app or at target.com.
  2. In the Target app: open the My Target tab, then Settings, then select Military verification under Your discounts.
  3. On target.com: sign in, open Settings from the Account menu, select Verify status under Discounts, then Verify status under Military.
  4. Enter your legal name exactly as it appears on your document. Target says nicknames and typos (such as a wrong birth year) are common reasons verification fails.
  5. Upload a document if asked. It must show your first and last name, branch of service, current armed services affiliation and, if applicable, your discharge date.
  6. Wait up to 1 hour after successful verification for a military bonus to appear in your account.

Target uses SheerID to confirm eligibility. For problems with the SheerID form itself, Target points you to SheerID’s help center; for anything else, contact Target’s Help Center.

Documents Target accepts

If you are… Accepted documents (per Target’s help article)
Currently serving Leave & Earnings Statement (pay stub), Army record brief, Reserve activation orders, enlistment contract
A veteran or retiree DD214, state license or ID with a veteran endorsement, honorable discharge certificate, NGB Form 22, reserve separation orders, VHIC or VIC, retiree account statement (eRAS), VA disability letter

One important warning from Target’s fact sheet: do not upload a photocopy of a U.S. government ID or Common Access Card. Target notes that photocopying them is prohibited by federal law (Title 18 of the U.S. Code) and asks for non-classified documents issued by an administrative officer or government official instead.

Target Circle 360 for military: the discount you can use today

The Military Appreciation page’s “Save over 50%” headline refers to Target Circle 360, Target’s paid membership. Verified military members pay $49 a year or $4.99 a month instead of the regular $99 a year or $10.99 a month. The same reduced price is offered to other verified groups (teachers, college students, government assistance recipients) and to Target Circle Card holders who have the card saved to their account. Target says the reduced price lasts only while you remain eligible.

According to target.com, Target Circle 360 includes:

  • Same-day delivery at select stores on orders of $35 or more
  • Free, fast shipping on eligible items
  • Monthly freebies and exclusive discounts
  • Early access to big sales and members-only items
  • An extra 30 days to return purchases

Target also lists a free 14-day trial with limited benefits. If you would mainly use delivery during the holidays, the military price makes the math much easier than the regular $99.

Other real ways to save at Target (no code needed)

Target doesn’t hand out a general public promo code, so stack these instead:

  • Target Circle (free): automatic deals in the app, a 5% off birthday gift, partner perks, and member sale events. Target’s fall Target Circle Deal Days ran October 6 to 7, 2026 (October 5 for 360 members).
  • Target Circle Card (5% off): the debit or credit version takes 5% off most Target purchases in stores and online, on top of Target Circle deals. It has no annual fee, adds 30 extra days for returns and gives free standard shipping on Target.com. The debit card needs no credit check and links to your checking account.
  • Free shipping: Target’s current promotions page lists free shipping on orders of $35 or more.
  • Price Match Guarantee: Target matches its own lower prices (Target.com, Target stores and Target Circle deals) at the time of purchase or within 14 days after, with your receipt. Clearance, Target Circle Bonuses and many other items are excluded, so check the list before you ask.
  • Weekly sale prices: Target.com sale prices run Sunday through Saturday, so check the weekly deals before a big Veterans Day shopping trip.

Tips before Veterans Day

  • Verify now, not on November 11. Verification can take up to an hour and may need a document upload.
  • Each household member verifies separately. Target’s eligibility covers the service member plus one dependent, each with their own Target Circle account.
  • Save the big purchase for the offer. Past Veterans Day offers applied to a storewide purchase (twice in 2023), so plan around your largest baskets.
  • Check how it stacks. Target says its Circle Card 5% applies on top of Target Circle deals, but read the 2026 Veterans Day fine print for any exclusions once it is posted.
  • Ignore “Target military promo code” sites. Target delivers the offer to your verified Target Circle account, not through a public code.
