Does Petco Offer a Military Discount? (2026): No, But Here’s How to Save

“Petco military discount” is a common search every November, and plenty of shoppers assume that because PetSmart and many home improvement chains honor service members, Petco must too. Based on what Petco itself publishes, it doesn’t. We found no military discount page, no military terms in the Petco Perks materials and no Veterans Day promotion in Petco’s newsroom.

That doesn’t mean military families have to pay full price. This guide explains exactly what Petco says in November 2026, what we could not confirm, and the official Petco programs that can cut the cost of food, litter, grooming and vet visits for anyone, veterans included.

Does Petco have a military discount for veterans or active duty?

Not one that Petco publishes. Petco’s Petco Perks page and its downloadable fact sheet describe the store’s loyalty and membership benefits in detail, and neither mentions military members, veterans or spouses. Petco’s newsroom and investor press release archive for 2026 also contain no military discount announcement.

Some individual stores or local managers may run their own community events, and Petco can always add a promotion. But there is no official, company-wide military discount you can ask for at the register, and Petco does not list one online. If a website shows you a “Petco military code,” treat it with caution unless it links back to an official Petco page.

What about military spouses and dependents?

Since Petco has no military program, there is nothing separate for spouses or dependents either. Every household member can still join Petco Perks for free with their own account.

Is there a Petco Veterans Day discount in 2026?

As of November 5, 2026, we did not find one. The most recent consumer release in Petco’s newsroom is its October 13, 2026 holiday campaign, which covers gifts at $10 or less, buy-one-get-one-free deals on holiday products, free Santa photos at select stores starting December 12 and a Perks Premier sign-up bonus. It does not mention veterans or Veterans Day.

Petco’s nonprofit arm, Petco Love, has historically marked Veterans Day with grants rather than store discounts. In its most recent Veterans Day story we found, Petco Love said its Helping Heroes initiative was investing more than $375,000 in over 40 service, therapy and working animal organizations, and that the program has invested more than $19 million since 2009. Those grants help groups that pair shelter dogs with veterans. They don’t lower your checkout total. If Petco announces a Veterans Day offer before November 11, we’ll update this page.

How to save at Petco without a military discount

1. Join Petco Perks (free)

Petco Perks is the free tier of Petco’s loyalty program. According to Petco, members earn points toward Petco Cash on virtually every purchase, get 3x points on Petco brands, and receive autoship savings, a birthday treat for their pet and personalized offers. Petco’s holiday release says offers are activated in the Petco app or online, so check the app before each trip.

2. Consider Petco Perks Premier if you buy a lot

Premier is a paid membership. Petco lists the price as $24.99 per month for dogs and cats and $9.99 per month for birds, reptiles, fish and small pets. With an annual commitment, Petco says members get these extra benefits:

Petco markets the dog and cat tier as having a “$600+ annual value,” but that depends on how much you actually spend on food, grooming and vet visits. Because it requires an annual commitment, do the math on your own monthly spending before you sign up.

3. Use autoship for food you buy anyway

Petco lists autoship savings as a Petco Perks benefit. The official pages we checked did not state a current percentage, so look at the discount shown on the product page before you subscribe rather than relying on older figures you may see on coupon sites.

4. Pick fast, free delivery options

Petco’s holiday release highlights free same-day delivery on eligible orders and buy online, pick up in store (curbside) service. Pickup is a simple way to avoid shipping costs on heavy bags of food or litter.

What about Vital Care?

Many older articles talk about Petco “Vital Care” and “Vital Care Premier.” Petco’s corporate page at that address now describes Petco Perks and Petco Perks Premier instead, and the October 2026 holiday release uses only the Perks names. Petco’s second quarter 2026 results refer to a “membership program relaunch.” If you already had Vital Care, sign in to your Petco account to see how your plan carries over, because the current terms are what count at checkout.

Tips to get the most from Petco as a military family

• Don’t wait for a military code. Petco doesn’t publish one, so start with free Petco Perks offers in the app.
• Price out Premier honestly. If you mainly buy small bags of treats, the monthly fee may cost more than you save. If you buy food, litter and grooming every month, the 10% and 20% discounts add up faster.
• Use the new-member bonus wisely. Petco’s holiday release says new Premier members get $10 in Petco Cash for a dog or cat, or $5 for a small companion animal. Check that the bonus is still running before you join.
• Watch holiday BOGO deals. Petco’s holiday campaign lists buy-one-get-one-free promotions on holiday products, which are open to everyone.
• Compare with PetSmart. If a military discount matters most to you, check PetSmart’s current military terms before you shop.
• Ignore unverified codes. A code that doesn’t trace back to petco.com or the Petco app is likely expired or never existed.
