Last updated: November 4, 2026 · On November 4, 2026 we checked PetSmart’s Monthly Services Offers page, the Treats Rewards page and FAQ, the Treats Rewards terms, and PetSmart’s promotional terms. Offers and rules can change at any time, so always confirm on petsmart.com.
- Does PetSmart have a military discount? Not on products. PetSmart does not publish a storewide military discount on merchandise, but its official services page lists two military discounts: 10% off grooming on Tuesdays and 10% off PetsHotel overnight stays.
- Grooming (Tuesdays only): 10% off grooming services and add-ons for military members who are Treats Rewards members. PetSmart accepts an expired military ID or a DD214 form.
- PetsHotel: 10% off overnight stays. Show government-issued ID that verifies service to get a discount coupon from a services associate. One discount per stay.
- Other official ways to save: free Treats Rewards (10 points per $1, 1,000 points = $2), Autoship (35% off the first order up to $20, then 5% off recurring orders) and free shipping over $49 for Treats members.
- Not published: any military discount on food, toys or supplies, any online military discount, and any 2026 Veterans Day offer.
PetSmart is one of the biggest pet retailers in the US, so it is natural to ask whether it gives back to service members. The short version: PetSmart’s military savings are tied to its pet services, not to the products on its shelves or website.
Below we explain exactly what PetSmart’s own pages say, who qualifies, how to ask for the discount in the salon or at PetsHotel, and what PetSmart does not publish. We also cover the regular savings tools that anyone, military or not, can use.

What PetSmart’s military discount actually covers
PetSmart’s Monthly Services Offers page lists a “Senior & Military Grooming Discount.” It gives 10% off grooming services on Tuesdays only. It applies to grooming services and add-ons. It does not apply to merchandise or to other services.
The same page lists 10% off PetsHotel overnight stays for seniors, military members and first responders. Only one discount can be used per stay. It does not apply to merchandise, add-ons, Doggie Day Camp or bundle packages, and it is subject to availability.
That is the full list of military offers we found on PetSmart’s official pages. We did not find a military discount on food, litter, toys, aquariums or other products, in store or online.
Who qualifies
For the grooming discount, PetSmart’s services page says the military offer includes:
- Active members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard
- Reserves and National Guard
- Retired members and their spouses
PetSmart says it accepts an expired military ID, and it also accepts a DD214 form. You also need a Treats Rewards membership, which is free.
For PetsHotel, PetSmart says military guests must show government-issued ID verifying service to receive a discount coupon from a services associate. The page does not list the same detailed eligibility groups for PetsHotel as it does for grooming, so ask the associate if you are unsure.
How to use the PetSmart military discount
- Join Treats Rewards. It is free. The grooming discount requires a Treats membership.
- Book grooming on a Tuesday. The 10% military grooming discount is for Tuesdays only.
- Bring proof of service. A military ID works. PetSmart also accepts an expired military ID or a DD214.
- Ask the salon associate before checkout. PetSmart’s page says to check with a salon associate for details.
- For PetsHotel, show government-issued ID. A services associate gives you the discount coupon for your overnight stay.
- Remember the one-discount rule at PetsHotel. You cannot stack the military discount with the senior or first responder discount on the same stay.
Fine print: what PetSmart does not publish
We looked for the following on PetSmart’s official pages on November 4, 2026, and did not find it:
- A military discount on products. The grooming discount specifically excludes merchandise, and so does the PetsHotel discount.
- An online military discount. PetSmart does not list military verification for petsmart.com orders.
- A 2026 Veterans Day offer. We found no official Veterans Day promotion for 2026 as of November 4.
- Whether every store takes part. The services page does not say the military discounts are limited to select stores, but local salon and PetsHotel availability varies.
- Whether the military grooming and other salon promos can be combined. PetSmart does not say. Ask the salon.
Third-party discount sites sometimes describe PetSmart’s military savings in different ways. We rely only on what PetSmart itself publishes.
Other official ways to save at PetSmart
These options are open to everyone, including military families:
- Treats Rewards. Free to join. Members earn 10 points per $1 on products and pet services. Points are redeemed in 1,000-point steps worth $2. Points generally expire one year after they are earned.
- Treats tiers. Bestie ($500 to $999 in yearly qualifying spend) adds 2 points per $1. VIPP ($1,000 or more) adds 4 points per $1. Bestie members get one 2X points purchase per year, and VIPP members get two.
- Pet birthday gift. Add your pet’s birthday or Gotcha Day to your Treats profile, and PetSmart emails a gift before that month.
- Autoship. PetSmart’s promotional terms say you save 35% on your first Autoship order, up to $20, and 5% on recurring orders. You must be signed in to Treats.
- Free shipping. Treats members get free standard shipping on orders over $49. PetSmart’s terms also mention military APO/FPO addresses for this offer.
- New grooming customers. PetSmart lists $20 off a new customer’s first bath or groom. It requires Treats, is valid for 60 days, and excludes add-ons, walk-ins and bulk packages.
- Salon Reward Certificates. Treats members can earn up to two 5,000-point certificates per year by getting a bath or groom in two consecutive calendar months.
Tips for military families shopping at PetSmart
- Stack time, not discounts. If you groom regularly, schedule on Tuesdays so you can use the 10% military discount every visit.
- Use Autoship for food. Since there is no military discount on products, Autoship is the main published discount on regular supplies.
- Keep your DD214 handy. Veterans and retirees without a current ID can use it for the grooming discount.
- Plan PetsHotel around deployments or travel. The 10% discount applies to overnight stays, but not to Doggie Day Camp or bundle packages.
- Check the services page monthly. PetSmart posts seasonal salon and training promos there, and many have short date windows.
