- MyHOP: MyHOP was IHOP’s old email club. The current loyalty program is IHOP Rewards, also called the International Bank of Pancakes, and it uses PanCoins.
If you searched for “IHOP birthday free pancakes,” you may have found older articles about a birthday coupon from the MyHOP email club. That system has been replaced. IHOP’s FAQ says that “instead of receiving a coupon,” members now get 5 PanCoins at the start of their birthday month. Five PanCoins is exactly what a full stack of buttermilk pancakes costs in the rewards catalog.
Below we explain how the reward works now, when to sign up, how to redeem it in the restaurant or online, and which rules IHOP does not publish.

Is it still called MyHOP?
No. MyHOP was IHOP’s email club. A 2019 IHOP announcement called it “the brand’s pancake perks email club program.” In April 2022, IHOP opened its first real loyalty program, the International Bank of Pancakes, which runs in the IHOP app and on ihop.com. Today ihop.com mostly calls it IHOP Rewards, while the FAQ and the App Store listing still use “International Bank of Pancakes.” All of these names refer to the same PanCoin program. If you were only on the old email list, sign up for IHOP Rewards to get the birthday PanCoins.
How the IHOP birthday reward works
The birthday reward is a PanCoin deposit, not a separate coupon. Here is how it works, based on IHOP’s pages:
- Amount: 5 PanCoins.
- What it buys: According to the FAQ, 5 PanCoins can be traded for a coupon for a full stack of buttermilk pancakes, and 3 PanCoins for a short stack. The birthday page describes the gift as a free full stack of Original Buttermilk pancakes.
- When: The 5 PanCoins post on the 1st of your birthday month.
- Who qualifies: IHOP Rewards members who joined before the 1st of their birthday month. Join any later and you would wait until next year, based on IHOP’s wording.
Because the reward is paid in PanCoins, it is added to any coins you already have. If your balance is higher, you can trade the coins for something else in the Stack Market instead of pancakes. IHOP does not publish a full price list of every Stack Market item.
How to get your free IHOP birthday pancakes, step by step
- Join IHOP Rewards for free in the IHOP app or at ihop.com/rewards, and enter your birthday in your profile.
- Do it early. You need to be a member before the 1st of your birthday month. If your birthday is in December, join by November 30.
- Check your balance on the 1st of your birthday month. The 5 PanCoins should be in your account.
- Trade the PanCoins in the Stack Market. Log in to the app or ihop.com/rewards and choose the full stack. You get a one-time coupon in your Rewards Wallet.
- Redeem it. When dining in, show the code to your server. When ordering online, enter it at checkout. IHOP says the birthday pancakes can be redeemed at any IHOP location.
Dine-in vs online: what counts
According to IHOP’s FAQ, you earn and redeem PanCoins on both dine-in visits and direct orders:
- Dine-in: If you pay without the app, your server can give you a deposit slip with a barcode and a numeric code. Scan or enter it in the app or on ihop.com to collect your PanCoins.
- IHOP app and ihop.com: Orders placed directly earn PanCoins, and reward coupons can be entered at online checkout.
- Delivery apps: Orders through DoorDash or other delivery providers do not earn PanCoins.
- Gift cards: Buying gift cards does not earn PanCoins.
How PanCoins work the rest of the year
Outside your birthday month, you earn 1 PanCoin for every $5 you spend at IHOP. For example, $15 earns 3 PanCoins, enough for a short stack, and $25 earns 5 PanCoins, enough for a full stack. IHOP says PanCoins can be traded for coupons for meals, merchandise or experiences in the app. You can redeem only one reward per guest per day, so plan your birthday visit around that limit.
The 2022 launch announcement also mentioned secret menu offerings and Pay ‘N Go, which lets you pay at the table from your phone. The App Store listing still lists Pay N’ Go, ordering and nearby restaurant search. IHOP does not publish whether those launch-era perks are all still offered.
Fine print and what IHOP does not publish
- Exact redemption window: The birthday page says the pancakes are for “your special day,” but the coins post on the 1st of the month. IHOP does not clearly say whether you must use them on your birthday itself or anytime during the month. To be safe, redeem them on or near your birthday.
- PanCoin expiration: We did not find an expiration rule on the pages we could read. IHOP’s loyalty terms page did not load for us on November 3, 2026, so check it before letting coins sit.
- Age and residency rules: Not shown on the rewards pages or FAQ we read. They are likely in the loyalty terms, which we could not read.
- Participating restaurants: The birthday page says “any IHOP location.” The FAQ does not list exceptions. Some countries, such as the UAE and Kuwait, have separate IHOP apps on the App Store, and we did not find whether those restaurants accept PanCoins.
- Drinks and add-ons: The reward covers the pancakes. IHOP does not say whether any drink or side is included, so plan to pay for extras and tax.
Tips to get the most from your IHOP birthday
- Join a month or more ahead. The “before the 1st” rule is the most common reason people miss the reward.
- Pay with the app or keep your deposit slip so your birthday meal also earns PanCoins toward your next reward.
- Order directly, not through delivery apps, if you want PanCoins for the order.
- Remember the one-reward-per-day limit. If you have extra PanCoins saved, use them on a different visit.
- Compare with other birthday freebies. Denny’s and Applebee’s have their own birthday rewards, so you can spread treats across the month.
