Last updated: November 2, 2026 · On November 2, 2026 we checked the Denny’s Rewards page, the Denny’s Booth Rewards (loyalty) page, the Denny’s Rewards Program Terms and Conditions, the FAQs page and the Meal Deals page on dennys.com, plus Denny’s official app listing on the Apple App Store and Denny’s official August 27, 2025 press release. Denny’s can change rewards, offers and exclusions at any time, so check “My Offers” in your account or ask your server before you order.
- Yes, but it is not a Grand Slam: Denny’s official app listing says Denny’s Rewards members “Get a FREE Everyday Value Slam™ every year for your birthday.” Denny’s August 2025 press release also mentions “the birthday FREE Everyday Value Slam reward.”
- What the Everyday Value Slam is: according to dennys.com, “Your choice of pancakes, Brioche French Toast, or biscuit & gravy — served with eggs, bacon or sausage.” It is not the Original Grand Slam.
- Who gets it: Denny’s Rewards members. The program terms say members must be “18 or older with an active Program account in good standing.” Joining is free.
- How to use it: look under “My Offers” on dennys.com or in the Denny’s app. In a restaurant you show a QR code (valid 24 hours once generated); online, you select the offer in your cart at checkout.
- Not published: we did not find how long before your birthday you must join, the exact redemption window for the birthday reward, or whether it works online as well as dine-in. The Rewards terms do not mention birthdays at all.
“Free Grand Slam on your birthday” is one of the most remembered restaurant birthday deals in the US, so plenty of people still walk into Denny’s expecting it. The real 2026 answer is a little different: the birthday reward Denny’s currently advertises is a free Everyday Value Slam, and it goes to Denny’s Rewards members through their account.
Below we cover exactly what dennys.com, the Rewards terms, the official Denny’s app listing and Denny’s own press release say about the birthday reward, what they leave out, how to redeem it, and the other Denny’s Rewards perks (BoothBucks, the welcome offer, Kids Eat Free and the AARP discount) that are worth knowing about.

Based on dennys.com pages, Denny’s Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (effective March 13, 2025), Denny’s official App Store listing and Denny’s August 27, 2025 press release, checked November 2, 2026. “Not published” means we did not find the detail on any official Denny’s page.
Does Denny’s give you a free meal on your birthday?
Yes, if you are a Denny’s Rewards member. Denny’s official listing for its app on the Apple App Store, under “Denny’s Rewards,” says: “Get a FREE Everyday Value Slam™ every year for your birthday.” When Denny’s announced its new loyalty program in its August 27, 2025 press release, it described members earning points, getting a welcome offer and challenges, “including the birthday FREE Everyday Value Slam reward guests know and love.”
So the birthday freebie is a full breakfast plate, but it is the Everyday Value Slam, not the Original Grand Slam. The dennys.com Meal Deals page describes the Everyday Value Slam as “Your choice of pancakes, Brioche French Toast, or biscuit & gravy — served with eggs, bacon or sausage.”
One thing to be aware of: the main Denny’s Rewards page and the program terms on dennys.com do not mention a birthday reward at all. The birthday offer is described in Denny’s app listing and press release, and like other member offers it should show up in your account. If you do not see it around your birthday, ask Denny’s guest support before you assume it applies.
Who qualifies for the Denny’s birthday reward?
- Denny’s Rewards members only: the birthday Slam is a member reward, not a walk-in offer. Telling your server it is your birthday is not listed anywhere as a way to get it.
- Adults 18+: the Rewards terms say “Individuals 18 or older with an active Program account in good standing are eligible participate in the Program.”
- Active accounts: Denny’s says it may “close inactive accounts with no activity for 12 months or longer,” so an old account you never use could be gone by your next birthday.
- Participating restaurants: the terms note that Denny’s locations “may be independently owned” and “Not all locations participate in all Offers.”
How to get your free birthday Slam (step by step)
- Join Denny’s Rewards for free. Sign up at dennys.com/rewards, in the Denny’s app, or by scanning the sign-up QR code in a restaurant. The terms say “Creating a Program account is free.”
- Complete your profile. Denny’s does not publish how it records your birthday, so check your account profile and make sure your date of birth is filled in well ahead of the big day.
- Opt in to messages if you want alerts. The terms say Denny’s may email offers and may text them if you consented when you created your account.
- Find the reward under “My Offers.” The Rewards page FAQ says to log in and check “My Offers” on dennys.com or in the app.
- Dine in: show the QR code before the check closes. Select the offer to generate a QR code, then show it to your server or cashier. The FAQ says “once the QR code is generated, the QR code will be valid for 24 hours,” and the loyalty page warns “Rewards must be applied before the check is closed.”
- Online: select it at checkout. If the offer can be used online, the terms say “it will appear in your cart at check-out and you will need to select it.”
Fine print: what Denny’s does not tell you
Several details birthday-deal hunters care about are not published anywhere official that we found on November 2, 2026:
- Sign-up timing: we did not find a rule saying you must join a set number of days before your birthday. Joining early is the safe move.
- Redemption window: we did not find whether the birthday Slam is good on the day, for a week or for the month. The terms only say “Most offers will expire each month (or in such other time frame as we determine).” Check the expiration date shown on the offer in “My Offers.”
- Dine-in vs online: the app listing says you can “Redeem your offers in-store via the app, or order in today and apply them during your checkout,” but the terms say “Each offer has its own unique terms and conditions.” Read the birthday offer’s own details.
- Combining: the FAQ says Denny’s discounts cannot be combined, and the AARP discount is “Not stackable or combinable with any other offers or promotions.” Expect to use the birthday Slam on its own.
- Program changes: Denny’s reserves “the right to change, suspend or terminate the Program.”
Other Denny’s Rewards perks
- BoothBucks points: the Booth Rewards page says members “Earn 10 BoothBucks™ for every $1 spent (dine-in or online)” and “Automatically redeem 600 BoothBucks™ for a reward,” choosing from “over 40+ menu faves ranging from starters to desserts.” Points are earned in restaurants when you give your phone number or scan your QR code, and online when you are logged in.
- Welcome offer: the dennys.com FAQ says “Receive 20% off your next visit when you sign up at dennys.com/rewards.” Denny’s 2025 press release says new members “get a welcome offer for immediate use in restaurant or at Dennys.com.”
- Monthly challenges: the Rewards page says members get monthly challenges and earn additional rewards the following month for completing them.
- Member events: Denny’s ran “Diner Days,” “a rewards member appreciation week from Sept. 1–7,” in 2026 with daily deals such as 3x BoothBucks and $10 off a $30 spend. Denny’s said members “should be opted-in to email, sms, and push for exclusive offers.”
- Kids Eat Free: per the FAQ, “Kids Eat Free with adult entrée purchase of $6 or more,” up to two free kid’s entrées per adult entrée, dine-in only. “Days and participation vary by location.”
- AARP discount: the FAQ says AARP members get “15% off their entire check” in store at participating locations. The Rewards page adds that it excludes alcohol, the Everyday Value Slam, the Original Grand Slam, merchandise, gift cards and online orders, with a “Maximum discount not to exceed $10.00.”
Tips before your birthday visit
- Sign up now, not on your birthday. Since Denny’s does not publish a join-by deadline, joining weeks ahead gives the reward time to load.
- Open “My Offers” before you leave home. Confirm the birthday Slam is there and note its expiration date.
- Generate the QR code at the table. It lasts 24 hours, and the FAQ says you can still use the offer until its listed expiration date if you need to redownload the code.
- Tell your server up front. Rewards must be applied before the check closes; Denny’s says it “can’t apply them afterward.”
- Call your local Denny’s if unsure. Locations can be independently owned and not all participate in every offer.
