Quick answer
  • Highest advertised national offer: CSL Plasma and B Positive Plasma both advertise up to $800 in your first month as a new donor, followed by Octapharma Plasma at up to $750 in the first 35 days. All three say the amount varies by location.
  • No national figure: BioLife, Grifols, KEDPLASMA, ImmunoTek and Freedom Plasma don’t publish a nationwide new-donor amount. Their offers vary by center.
  • The honest answer: the plasma center that pays the most is the one near you with the best current new-donor promo, because pay is set per center and is usually based on your body weight.
  • Frequency limit: FDA rules allow no more than two donations in a 7-day period, at least 2 days apart, at any chain.

“Which plasma center pays the most?” is one of the most searched questions about plasma donation, and most answers online are pay charts copied from forums. We took a different route: we went to each chain’s own website and recorded only what the company publishes nationally, word for word where possible. The result is less flashy than a “$1,000 a month” headline, but it’s what you can actually rely on.

The short version: a few chains publish an “up to” new-donor figure, the others leave it to each center, and in every case the real amount depends on your location, your weight and the promotion running when you sign up.

So which plasma center pays the most?

On paper, CSL Plasma and B Positive Plasma share the highest nationally advertised new-donor figure (up to $800 in the first month), with Octapharma close behind (up to $750 over 35 days). But those headlines aren’t a fair ranking, for three reasons:

  • Pay is set per center. Every chain in our table says compensation varies by location. Two CSL centers in the same state can run different promotions in the same month.
  • Pay is usually weight-based. CSL Plasma says pay “continues to be based on the donor’s weight on the day of donation” and uses five weight tiers (110–139, 140–169, 170–199, 200–229 and 230+ lbs). Octapharma says pay is based on “a combination of weight, height, and hematocrit.” A lighter donor will rarely hit the “up to” figure.
  • The windows differ. “First month” and “first 35 days” aren’t the same thing, and the top amount only applies if you complete every required visit.

That’s why the honest answer to “which plasma center pays the most” is: the one near you with the best current new-donor promotion for your weight tier. Chains that don’t publish a national figure, like BioLife or Grifols, can easily beat an advertised $800 in a competitive city.

How to compare plasma centers near you (step by step)

  1. List every center within a realistic drive. You’ll be going up to twice a week, so a center 40 minutes away rarely beats one 10 minutes away, even with a higher bonus.
  2. Open each center’s local page, not the homepage. BioLife tells donors to check their local center’s page or the app’s “My Promotions” tab, and Grifols, KEDPLASMA and Freedom Plasma also set offers locally.
  3. Write down the new-donor window and visit count. Note how many donations are needed and how many days you have (for example, Octapharma’s 35-day window). Missing one visit can cost you a payment.
  4. Check your weight tier. Ask the center or check the app for the amount at your weight, since the advertised maximum usually applies to the heaviest tier.
  5. Add the referral bonus. If a friend already donates, their code can add money for both of you. Grifols requires the code to be entered in DonorHub before your first donation, and Octapharma asks you to bring your friend’s QR code to your first visit.
  6. Look past month one. Compare the loyalty program (iGive Rewards, My BioLife Rewards, OctaRewards, KEDLeague) and regular-donor pay, because that’s what you’ll earn for the rest of the year.

What the loyalty programs offer after the first month

New-donor promos end, but loyalty programs keep paying. CSL’s iGive Rewards® awards points you can redeem for cash on your prepaid card. My BioLife Rewards gives points for milestones such as your first donation, seven donations in a calendar month, donating three months in a row and your first referral; points can go to your BioLife Debit Card, eGift cards or charity. KEDLeague uses tiers that rise as you donate regularly, and points can be redeemed for perks such as Express Passes and gift cards. OctaRewards is Octapharma’s program for return donors, presented alongside its OctaApp.

If you plan to donate for a year, a strong loyalty program at a nearby center can be worth more than a slightly bigger first-month promo across town.

How often you can donate (the FDA rule that caps your earnings)

Whatever chain you choose, the federal limit is the same. The FDA’s inspection guide for source plasma states that donors “must not be plasmapheresed more frequently than once in a 2-day (48 hours) period or twice in a 7-day period.” In practice, that means a maximum of two donations per week, with at least one day off between them. Octapharma and CSL describe the same limit on their FAQ pages.

This rule is why the top new-donor amounts assume you donate twice a week, every week of the promo window. B Positive, for example, ties its “over $800” first month to completing two donations every week.

Tips to earn the most, whichever center you pick

  • Don’t stack centers. Donating at two different chains to “beat” the weekly limit breaks the FDA limit, which applies to you as a donor, not to each center.
  • Hydrate and eat a protein-rich meal before each visit. Octapharma notes that hydration can affect hematocrit, which is one of the factors in your donation volume.
  • Sign up for each chain’s app or text alerts so you see returning-donor and holiday promos.
  • Returning after a break? Some chains treat lapsed donors like new ones. B Positive’s new-donor promo, for example, also covers donors who haven’t given for six months or longer.
  • Read the terms on the center page: completed donations and full donation volume are usually required for the bonus to pay out.

Frequently asked questions

Which plasma center pays the most for new donors?

Among national offers, CSL Plasma and B Positive Plasma advertise the highest figure, up to $800 in the first month, and Octapharma advertises up to $750 in the first 35 days. Since amounts vary by location, the best payer is whichever nearby center has the strongest current promo.

Is CSL or BioLife better paying?

It depends on your local centers. CSL publishes a national “up to $800 first month” offer, while BioLife sets new-donor promotions per center, so compare both local pages and apps for your weight tier.

Why do plasma centers pay different amounts?

Each center sets its own rates and promotions, and pay is usually tied to your weight because heavier donors give more plasma per visit. CSL, for example, uses five weight-based pay tiers.

How many times a week can you donate plasma?

Twice. FDA rules allow no more than two donations in a 7-day period, with at least 2 days between donations, at any plasma center.

Can I donate at two different plasma centers to earn more?

No. The twice-in-7-days limit applies to you as a donor, not to each center, so donating at two chains in the same week still counts toward the same federal limit.
