Quick answer
  • Yes. Apple offers year-round education pricing in its U.S. Education Store for current and newly accepted college students, their parents, and faculty, staff and homeschool teachers of all grade levels.
  • On October 24, 2026 the Education Store listed Macs, iPads and Apple Watch “with education savings,” for example MacBook Air from $1199, MacBook Neo from $599 and iPad from $429.
  • Students and educators can save up to 10% on AppleCare+ for a new Mac or iPad, according to Apple.
  • Apple verifies student and staff status through the third-party site UNiDAYS, and education purchases are limited per year (for example, two iPads and one MacBook).
  • The 2026 Back to School gift card promotion ran July 16 to September 24, 2026, so it is over as of today.
  • Apple Music Student costs $6.99/month for verified college students and includes Apple TV at no extra cost.

If you are heading to college, already enrolled, paying for a child’s laptop, or working at any school, Apple’s education pricing is the simplest way to pay less than the regular apple.com price for a Mac or iPad. The discount is built into a separate storefront, so there is no promo code to hunt for.

This guide covers exactly who qualifies, example education prices we read on apple.com today, how verification and the yearly purchase limits work, what happened to the 2026 Back to School deal, and other official ways to save, such as the Apple Music student plan, Apple Trade In and Certified Refurbished products.

How to get the Apple student discount (step by step)

  1. Go to the Education Store. Open apple.com/us-edu/store instead of the regular Apple Store. Prices there are shown “with education savings.”
  2. Pick your product. Choose a Mac, iPad or Apple Watch and configure it. Not all products have special education pricing, so compare with the regular store if you are unsure.
  3. Verify through UNiDAYS. At checkout Apple redirects you to the third-party website UNiDAYS to confirm your student or staff status. UNiDAYS shares your verification status with Apple.
  4. Add AppleCare+ if you want it. The education discount on AppleCare+ applies to coverage for a new Mac or iPad.
  5. Pay or finance. You can pay in full, use Apple Trade In credit, or choose Apple Card Monthly Installments, which Apple says is available with the education discount.

Shopping in person? Tell the Specialist you want education pricing. Apple applies the same eligibility rules and purchase limits whether you buy online or at an Apple Store, and it says it routinely audits education purchases. If a purchase did not meet the conditions, Apple can charge you the difference from the regular price.

Who qualifies for Apple education pricing

Apple’s Education Terms and Conditions for the U.S. and Puerto Rico list these groups:

Group Eligible? Apple’s wording, in short
College and university students Yes Students attending, or accepted into, a higher education institution
Newly accepted students Yes Accepted students qualify before classes start
Parents Yes Parents buying for a child who is a current or accepted college student
College faculty and staff Yes Faculty and staff of higher education institutions
K-12 employees Yes Any employee of a public or private K-12 school, plus homeschool teachers, school board members and PTA/PTO executives
K-12 students Not listed The terms cover K-12 employees, not K-12 students

In short, “student” means a college student. A high school senior qualifies once accepted into a college, and a parent can buy on that student’s behalf.

Example education prices on apple.com (checked October 24, 2026)

These are starting prices for the base configuration, as shown on the Education Store today. Upgrades such as more memory or storage cost extra.

  • MacBook Neo: from $599
  • MacBook Air: from $1199
  • MacBook Pro: from $1899
  • Mac mini: from $799
  • iMac: from $1449
  • iPad: from $429
  • iPad Air: from $699
  • iPad Pro: from $1099
  • Apple Watch SE 3: from $229

Apple does not publish one flat percentage for the education discount, so the saving varies by product. iPhone appears on the Education Store page under “More to love,” but it is not labeled with education pricing.

Purchase limits and returns

Apple’s Education Terms limit how much you can buy with education pricing each year:

  • Desktop, Mac mini, MacBook and displays: one of each per year
  • iPad: two per year
  • Apple Watch: one per year
  • Accessories: two per year

Returns follow a 14-day window from the date you receive the product from Apple, and the item must be in its original condition. Apple Gift Cards cannot be returned.

Is Apple Back to School still on in October 2026?

No. Apple’s U.S. terms for the College Student Offer 2026 say the promotion began July 16, 2026 and ended September 24, 2026. During that window, qualified buyers got an Apple Gift Card with an eligible MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Air or iPad Pro. Apple’s terms page does not list the gift card amounts, and it notes that Apple may modify or end the promotion at any time. If you missed it, the regular education pricing still applies all year.

Other real ways to save at Apple

  • Apple Music Student: $6.99/month with the first month free for new subscribers. It is for college students only, requires verification, includes Apple TV at no extra cost, and lasts up to 48 months while you remain a student. After that it moves to the Individual plan at $11.99/month.
  • Apple Trade In: Trade in an eligible device, including some Samsung and Google phones, for credit toward a new purchase or an Apple Gift Card. Devices with no trade-in value can be recycled for free.
  • Apple Certified Refurbished: Refurbished products come with Apple’s standard one-year limited warranty, full functional testing, and free shipping and returns. Refurbished iOS devices get a new battery and outer shell.
  • Apple Card Monthly Installments: Spread the cost over 12 months at the education price, subject to credit approval.

Tips to get the most from Apple education pricing

  • Verify before you shop. Have your school email or enrollment details ready for UNiDAYS so checkout goes smoothly.
  • Plan around the yearly limits. If you need a MacBook and an iPad, both fit within the limits, but a second MacBook in the same year will not.
  • Bundle AppleCare+ at purchase. The education saving on AppleCare+ applies to a new Mac or iPad, so add it when you buy.
  • Stack with Trade In. Trade-in credit applies on top of the education price, which lowers the final cost further.
  • Watch for next summer. Apple has run a Back to School offer in recent summers. If you can wait, check the Education Store from July.
  • Compare with refurbished. A Certified Refurbished Mac or iPad can sometimes cost less than the education price of a new one.
