- What it is: Best Buy’s Deal of the Day is a page on bestbuy.com with one featured deal plus several “Bonus Deals of the Day.” Each deal shows a countdown (“Sale expires in…”) and disappears when the timer runs out, so it is a one-day, limited-time price. No coupon code is needed.
- Memberships (checked today): My Best Buy is free; My Best Buy Plus is $29.99/year and My Best Buy Total is $199.99/year. Plus and Total add member prices, free 2-day shipping and a 60-day return window on most products.
- Price match: Best Buy matches 19 named competitors (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Costco and others) at the time of sale, and matches its own lower price if it drops during your return period.

Best Buy runs a new set of one-day deals on bestbuy.com, and laptops, including HP models, show up there often. This page used to cover a single 2021 deal on the HP Spectre x360 13 (then $799.99, down from $1,299.99). That price is long gone, so we rewrote it as an evergreen guide: how Deal of the Day works, how long deals last, what the My Best Buy tiers cost in 2026, and the policies that save you money after you buy.
How Best Buy Deal of the Day works
The Deal of the Day page features one main deal and a row of “Bonus Deals of the Day.” Here is what the official page shows, and what it doesn’t:
- How long a deal lasts: each deal carries a live countdown (“Sale expires in X hours and Y minutes”). Best Buy calls them “limited-time offers.” The page doesn’t publish a fixed start or end time, so use the timer.
- Quantities: the page doesn’t say how many units are available. The broader Top Deals page notes “Limited quantities” and “Offers subject to change,” so popular laptops can sell out before the timer ends.
- Who can buy: the Deal of the Day page doesn’t say its deals are member-only. Member-only prices are a separate category (see below).
- No code needed: the sale price is applied on the product page. Add it to your cart, choose shipping or store pickup, and check out before the countdown ends.
The Top Deals page (bestbuy.com/top-deals) is the bigger hub. It organizes current sales by category, including “Exclusive Member Deals” and “Outlet Deals,” and links back to Deal of the Day in the navigation. The page doesn’t say how often the deals rotate.

Is Plus worth it for a laptop? At $29.99, Plus can pay for itself if a member price on a laptop beats the regular price by more than the fee, or if you want 60 days to test the laptop instead of 15. Total costs more because it bundles protection plans and Geek Squad-style support. Before you pay for either, compare that cost with buying a stand-alone protection plan for one laptop.
How to find HP and laptop deals at Best Buy
- Check Deal of the Day first. Laptops appear there regularly, but not every day. Look at the bonus deals too.
- Open the Laptop Deals page and filter by Brand (HP), then by screen size, processor, RAM and storage.
- Filter by “Current Deals.” Best Buy’s search lets you narrow HP laptops to On Sale, Clearance and discount ranges such as “30% Off or More.”
- Look for member prices. If a laptop shows a member price, that price needs Plus or Total. Best Buy’s price match doesn’t cover member pricing.
- Compare the exact model number. HP sells many configurations under the same name (Spectre x360, Envy, Pavilion, OmniBook). Price matching needs an identical item, so compare model numbers, not just names.
- Check open-box. Many laptops have an “Open-Box” option on the product page that can cost less than new.
Best Buy Price Match Guarantee
Best Buy says it matches “key online and local competitors” at the time of sale: one price match per identical item, per customer. The Qualified Competitors page names Abt, Amazon, Apple, B&H Photo Video, BJ’s, BrandsMart USA, Costco, Crutchfield, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, Micro Center, Nebraska Furniture Mart, P.C. Richard, RC Willey, Sam’s Club, Target and Walmart.
- Best Buy’s own price drops: if Best Buy lowers its price during your return and exchange period, it will match the lower price on request. If a laptop you bought last week shows up as Deal of the Day, ask for the difference.
- Not matched: third-party Marketplace sellers (on Best Buy or competitor sites); open-box, refurbished, clearance and pre-owned items; membership and loyalty prices; competitors’ daily or hourly specials; Black Friday pricing and competitor sales from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after; coupons, rebates, bundles, and limited-quantity or out-of-stock items.
Return windows: 15 days or 60 days
Under the official Return & Exchange Policy, most products have a 15-day window for standard customers and 60 days for My Best Buy Plus and Total members (Marketplace products excluded). The clock starts when you receive the product. Exceptions:
- Cell phones and activatable devices: 14 days for everyone (Best Buy lists 30 days for activatable Verizon devices), with a $45 restocking fee on activatable devices, except prepaid phones.
- 15% restocking fee: applies to drones, digital cameras, lenses, camcorders and other listed items, unless they are unopened or your state bars the fee.
- Laptops: follow the standard “most products” window, so 15 days or 60 days with a membership.
The policy page we checked today lists no holiday return extension. If Best Buy announces one for the 2026 season, it will appear on that page.
Open-box and refurbished laptops
Best Buy’s Outlet buying guide grades open-box items in three conditions:
- Excellent: looks brand new, with no physical flaws, scratches or scuffs. BestBuy.com sells open-box items in Excellent condition.
- Good: minor to moderate cosmetic signs of use. Mainly in stores or for Store Pickup.
- Fair: works as intended but shows more significant scratches, dents or chips. Mainly in stores.
Open-box items are covered by the return policy and come with a warranty. Refurbished products are “repaired and restored to a like-new state” and most carry at least a 90-day warranty. Remember that open-box and refurbished prices can’t be price matched.
Student deals
Best Buy has a back-to-school student hub, but no dedicated, verified student discount program. The hub says shoppers can “use coupon codes to get a special student discount on some items,” without naming items, codes or eligibility rules. Students usually save more by combining Deal of the Day, the Laptop Deals filters and a Plus membership for the 60-day return window.
Black Friday and holiday timing
As of October 19, 2026, we didn’t find official 2026 Black Friday dates on Best Buy’s pages. For reference, Best Buy’s 2025 press release said the Black Friday sale started Thursday, November 20, added deals on November 21 and on Black Friday (November 28), and ran through November 29, 2025. That year, Plus and Total members could earn bonus rewards on doorbusters, and doorbusters had “no rainchecks.” Expect a similar early start, but wait for Best Buy’s own announcement before planning around exact dates. Also remember that the Price Match Guarantee excludes competitors’ Black Friday pricing.
