Does Best Buy Offer a Military Discount? (2026): Veterans Day Status and Real Ways to Save

“Best Buy military discount” gets searched a lot around Veterans Day, because many big retailers thank service members with a percentage off. Best Buy is an exception. It has no everyday military discount, no veterans discount at the register and no military ID verification program. That covers active duty, veterans, retirees and military families.

That doesn’t mean you have to pay full price. Below we cover what Best Buy has officially said, the Veterans Day 2026 status, and the verified ways military families (and everyone else) can cut the price of a TV, laptop or appliance at Best Buy this season.

Does Best Buy have a military discount?

No. We looked through Best Buy’s help pages, membership pages and corporate newsroom, and none of them describes a military discount program. The clearest statement is on bestbuy.com itself. A shopper asked whether Best Buy offers military discounts, and Best Buy’s Memberships Expert Team answered that it does not. The team pointed to the Price Match Guarantee instead and thanked the veterans among its customers and employees. Under another question about discounts for disabled veterans, the same team wrote: “We currently do not offer any veterans discounts.”

Some customer answers on those pages say “yes,” or say a store manager once took a little off an item. Those are anecdotes from shoppers, not Best Buy policy, and none of them names an actual program. If a store gives you a one-off courtesy discount, that’s up to that store. Don’t plan a purchase around it.

What about manufacturer military pricing?

Some electronics brands run their own military or government purchase programs on their own websites. Best Buy’s official pages don’t say it honors those programs at checkout, and we found no manufacturer military pricing applied at Best Buy. If you serve or have served, check the brand’s own website for its military program. Then compare that price with Best Buy’s current price, and with its price match terms below.

Is there a Best Buy Veterans Day 2026 sale?

As of November 1, 2026, we found no Veterans Day promotion for military members or veterans on bestbuy.com or corporate.bestbuy.com. Best Buy published its 2026 holiday calendar on October 27, 2026, and it doesn’t mention Veterans Day or the military. Here is what it does list:

• Doorbusters: starting October 30, with new Doorbusters every week.
• Early Black Friday deals and Doorbusters: starting November 6, with new deals every Friday. Veterans Day (November 11) falls in this stretch.
• Black Friday Doorbusters and deals: starting November 19 and running 10 days.
• Cyber Week deals: December 1 to 6.
• Last-Minute Savings Event: December 18 to 24.
• Double rewards for My Best Buy Plus and Total members: November 19 to December 6.

Best Buy Price Match Guarantee: your strongest tool

Since there’s no military discount, price matching is the most reliable way to make sure you aren’t overpaying. According to Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee page (effective October 30, 2026):

• Competitor matching: Best Buy matches the current price of retailers on its Qualified Competitors list. The item must be the same brand, model number and color, new, and “immediately available” to ship or pick up.
• Best Buy’s own price drops: if Best Buy lowers its store, online or app price during your return and exchange period, you can ask for the lower price.
• Channel matching: Best Buy matches its online and app prices for in-store purchases, and the reverse.
• Holiday price match: most items bought from October 30 to December 31 can be matched to Best Buy’s own current price through January 15. This holiday extension does not cover competitor prices.
• How to ask: online, contact Best Buy Chat or call 1-888-BEST BUY with the competitor’s ad or web page ready. In a store, show the ad or web page to an employee.

What Best Buy will not price match

• Marketplace items sold by third-party sellers
• Clearance, refurbished, open-box and pre-owned items
• Member-only or loyalty pricing
• Competitor contract phones, pre-orders, trade-in deals and “Black Friday pricing”
• Bundles, gift cards, coupons, mail-in rebates, financing offers and pricing errors

Best Buy allows one price match per identical item, based on the current pre-tax price.

My Best Buy memberships: is Plus worth it?

Best Buy’s loyalty program has three tiers. None has a military price, but the paid tiers include member-only prices, which can be worth more than a typical 10% military discount on the right item.

Best Buy launched rewards for Plus and Total members on June 4, 2026. The rate is 1% back (0.5 points per $1). Members who pay with a My Best Buy Credit Card using Standard Credit earn an extra 5%, for 6% in total. Free members don’t earn rewards. The return window also changes by tier. Standard returns are 15 days for most products, while Plus and Total members get 60 days. Activatable devices such as phones are 14 days for everyone.

Other real ways to save at Best Buy (no code needed)

• Open-box items: Best Buy grades open-box items as Excellent, Good or Fair. Excellent items “look brand new.” Open-box items are still covered by the Return & Exchange Promise and earn My Best Buy rewards.
• Refurbished and clearance: the Best Buy Outlet sells refurbished products (most with at least a 90-day warranty, per Best Buy) and clearance items, which are new and factory-sealed.
• Trade-In: trade in used tech for a Best Buy e-gift card. Check the value with Best Buy’s trade-in tool first.
• Holiday return window: most items bought October 30 to December 31, 2026 can be returned until January 15, 2027. That makes early holiday deals lower risk.
• Students: Best Buy’s Back to School hub says students can use coupon codes for “a special student discount on some items.” It doesn’t publish a percentage or a verification program, so treat this as occasional deals, not a standing student discount.

Tips for military families shopping at Best Buy

• Don’t wait for a military discount at the register. Best Buy says it doesn’t offer one, so compare prices before you check out.
• Buy during the holiday window. Purchases made from October 30 get holiday price protection and returns through January 15, 2027. If the price drops on Black Friday, ask for the difference.
• Check the manufacturer’s site. If the brand runs its own military program, compare that price with Best Buy’s sale price.
• Look at open-box first for big-ticket TVs and appliances, especially items rated Excellent.
• Ignore “Best Buy military promo code” sites. Best Buy doesn’t publish any military code.
