Last updated: October 2026 · Prices vary by title and school, and McGraw Hill can change its access and refund options at any time.
- No public promo code: McGraw Hill doesn’t publish a general promo code for Connect in October 2026. “Connect promo codes” on coupon sites are usually expired or are really access codes that only work once.
- Free trial: Connect offers free 14-day Temporary Access, available only during the first 14 days of your course.
- Cheapest route at many schools: Inclusive Access, where your school and bookstore set a discounted price and add it to your student account. McGraw Hill reports 36% average savings per course in its Affordable Access programs.
- Don’t double-buy: Connect includes the eBook, and most codes give 180 days of access (some courses provide 360 days).
- Refunds: Connect or ALEKS bought directly from McGraw Hill can be refunded or exchanged within 14 days of purchase.
McGraw Hill Connect is the homework and learning platform many college instructors assign, so for most students it isn’t optional. You can still pay less, or pay later, if you know how McGraw Hill actually sells access. We checked McGraw Hill’s official support pages, product pages, return policy and Affordable Access pages, verified October 2026.
Ways to get McGraw Hill Connect access (October 2026)
| Option | What you get | Cost | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temporary Access (free trial) | 14 days of full Connect access | Free, no code or payment needed | Only offered during the first 14 days of the course. After that it’s grayed out |
| Buy online in your Connect course | Full access, eBook included | Varies by title | Pay by credit card or PayPal through McGraw Hill Secure Checkout from your course section link |
| Online access code from mheducation.com | A code you redeem in your course | Varies by title | Codes are title-specific and work only once |
| Printed access card from the campus bookstore | Same access as buying online | Set by the bookstore | The option to use if you’re paying with financial aid |
| Inclusive Access (if your school offers it) | Access by the first day of class through your school’s LMS | Discounted price set by your school and bookstore | Billed to your student account. You can opt out by your school’s deadline |
| Chegg | Print eBook or access code bundles | Set by Chegg | McGraw Hill says to contact Chegg support for those purchases |
Is there a McGraw Hill Connect promo code?
Not a public one. McGraw Hill’s Connect purchase FAQ, product pages and checkout help pages don’t mention any student discount code for Connect. McGraw Hill does run promo codes for some other products (for example, a monthly code for its Boards & Beyond medical review subscription), but those don’t apply to Connect.
A common mix-up: the 20-digit Connect access code is not a coupon. It’s your paid license. Each code is tied to one title and can be redeemed only once, so a “free code” posted online has almost always been used already, and a used textbook usually doesn’t come with a working code unless it’s still sealed and unused.
Connect prices: what you’ll actually pay
McGraw Hill sets a price per title, so there’s no single Connect price. As an example, the official product page for Connect Master: Principles of Economics lists 180 days of access (Standard) at $128.41 and 360 days (Alternate) at $167.04, with print loose-leaf from $128.99. Your own course will have a different title and price.
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Access length (180 vs. 360 days) | Most Connect codes give 180 days. Some courses provide 360 days, which can make sense if your sequence runs two terms with the same title |
| eBook included | Buying Connect through the digital tab includes the eBook. Buy the eBook alone (Print/eBook tab) only if your instructor doesn’t require Connect |
| Loose-leaf print | Product pages note a discount loose-leaf option available inside Connect, bought under “Buy Now” for Loose-Leaf |
| Instructor requirement | Connect only works if your instructor assigned it, so don’t buy it before you have your course section link |
How McGraw Hill Connect Temporary Access works
Temporary Access (sometimes called courtesy access) is McGraw Hill’s free trial. It gives you 14 days of Connect, starting the day you select it, with no access code or payment needed. McGraw Hill says it’s meant for students waiting on financial aid, students whose bookstore is out of access cards, or students who might drop the class.
- Timing: It’s only available during the first 14 days of the course. After that, the option is grayed out.
- Your work carries over: Assignments you complete are saved when you fully register, as long as you use the same email address. McGraw Hill can’t merge two separate Connect accounts.
- Upgrading: Log in, choose “Yes, purchase access” under your class, click Purchase and pay through McGraw Hill Secure Checkout (PayPal is accepted).
- Mind the gap: If your trial ends before you buy, you can’t complete assignments due in between. Ask your instructor about those.
Inclusive Access: often the cheapest way to get Connect
Many colleges partner with their bookstore and McGraw Hill on Inclusive Access (also called First Day or Immediate Access). Your instructor opts the course in, you get the digital materials through your LMS by the first day of class, and the charge is added to your student account at a discounted rate.
- Savings: McGraw Hill reports 36% average savings per course for students in its Affordable Access programs. Its FAQ says base prices run 10% to 70% below national retail publisher prices, depending on the product. Your school and bookstore set the final price.
- Financial aid: You can charge the materials to your account and pay with financial aid or scholarships.
- Opting out: Schools must offer an opt-out. The deadline is set by your school and usually matches the add/drop period. If you opt out, you aren’t charged or the charge is refunded.
- Complete Access: Some schools charge one flat fee per credit hour or term that covers materials for all your courses. McGraw Hill also calls this Equitable Access or All-In Access.
Before you opt out to buy Connect on your own, compare the Inclusive Access price on your bill with the price shown in your Connect course. Opting out to save money only works if the standalone price is lower.
McGraw Hill Connect refund policy
McGraw Hill’s return policy says Connect and ALEKS purchased directly from McGraw Hill for a course your school requires can be fully refunded or exchanged within 14 days of purchase. You’ll need your order number and access code information, and you submit the request through McGraw Hill’s online product return form. Downloadable digital products such as eBooks can’t be returned once downloaded.
If you bought Connect at the campus bookstore or another seller, McGraw Hill says to contact that seller for a refund. Inclusive Access charges are handled through your school’s opt-out process.
How to pay less for Connect: step by step
- Wait for your instructor’s course link. Connect only works with an assigned course, and the link shows the right title and price.
- Check whether your course uses Inclusive Access. If it does, you may not need to buy anything, and access appears in your LMS.
- Start Temporary Access in week one. It’s free for 14 days and buys time for financial aid or a drop decision.
- Buy only what’s required. Connect includes the eBook, so skip a separate eBook purchase.
- Pick the access length that fits. Choose 360 days only if your course offers it and you’ll use the same title again.
- Use the same email for the trial and the purchase so your work carries over.
- Keep your receipt. If you bought the wrong product, you have 14 days to request a refund or exchange from McGraw Hill.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a used code: Codes work once. A code from a used book or a resale listing is usually already redeemed.
- Letting the trial lapse: Temporary Access can’t be restarted after the first 14 days of the course.
- Opening a second account: Registering with a different email can split your work, and McGraw Hill can’t merge accounts.
- Trying to use financial aid online: McGraw Hill doesn’t accept financial aid directly. Use a bookstore access card or Inclusive Access.
- Missing the opt-out deadline: If you plan to buy elsewhere, opt out of Inclusive Access before your school’s cutoff.
